Bryan Neo

ABOUT HIM

Dr Bryan Neo is a clinical psychologist who works with adult clients, including the LGBTQIA+ community. He offers evidence-based therapy for anxiety, stress, depression, interpersonal difficulties, perfectionism, life stressors, and men's mental health. 


Bryan is also experienced in forensic assessments and preparing court reports for adult clients. He is skilled in various offending risk tools, diagnostic interview measures, and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI).

Bryan offers services for a range of psychological issues, including:

  • Worry and generalised anxiety

  • Anxiety (social and performance anxiety, health anxiety, panic, specific phobias)

  • Depression and low mood

  • Men's mental health

  • Stress (work-related, burnout, imposter syndrome, life transitions, parenting)

  • Perfectionism

  • Issues in LGBTQIA+ and culturally and/or linguistically diverse communities

  • Interpersonal and relationship difficulties

  • Anger issues

  • Alcohol and substance use

  • Psychological assessments for adults using diagnostic interview measures and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI)

  • Forensic assessments and court reports for adults (e.g., pre-sentencing, offending risk, psychological diagnosis, rehabilitation and intervention planning)

Bryan draws from a range of experiences to inform his clinical practice. He has worked with adults with comorbid medical and psychological disorders at NSW Health, justice-involved adolescents and adults at the NSW Department of Communities and Justice, and families at the UNSW Parent-Child Research Clinic. He has also worked as a psychologist in Singapore. He draws on his research training to ensure that clients receive high-quality assessments to inform treatment planning. He has lectured on psychological assessment to postgraduate psychology trainees.​

QUALIFICATIONS

Bryan is a clinical psychologist (PSY0002096666) registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). He was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Psychology (Clinical) degrees from the University of New South Wales. He was also awarded a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) with First Class Honours from the Australian National University. He received both the Australian Psychological Society Prize and the Honours Psychology Thesis Prize for his academic excellence.

Bryan aims to provide a warm and supportive environment for his clients to have meaningful reflections about their concerns and the opportunity to develop more balanced ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving. The main evidence-based therapies that Bryan uses include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Schema Therapy 

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
