ABOUT HER

Yu Teng Lee is a clinical psychologist who is proficient in delivering evidence-based assessment and treatment for children, adolescents and adults. She values working closely with clients to best support and empower them to manage the difficulties they experience and build meaningful, enriching lives. 

Yu Teng has experience in providing treatment and support for a range of mental health difficulties, including:

  • Low mood and depression

  • Worry and generalised anxiety

  • Social anxiety

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder

  • Panic attacks and panic disorder

  • Autism and ADHD (child and adult)

  • Low self-esteem

  • Perfectionism

  • Interpersonal and relationship difficulties

  • Gambling harm and impact of gambling harm on affected others

  • Disruptive behaviour in children

  • Emotional dysregulation in children

Yu Teng's clinical experience span across different settings, including universities, research treatment clinics and community-based services such as GambleAware Central Sydney. She is skilled in working with clients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds across different life stages, having lived and worked in Asia and Australia. 

In addition to Sonder Clinical Psychology, Yu Teng has a clinical role at the University of New South Wales providing Parent-Child Interaction Therapy at school-based clinics for children displaying oppositional defiance, aggression and conduct problems. Her master's degree research examined change in parent-child interaction across a parenting programme for families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and externalising behaviour. Her current work at UNSW and prior research training informs her clinical practice, such as utilising best-practice research-based assessment and treatment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Yu Teng is fully registered as a clinical psychologist (PSY0002266612) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She has a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Sydney, and a Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in Psychology from the National University of Singapore. In her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, she completed theses on autism examining the comorbidity of anxiety with autism and also the change in quality of parent-child relationship following a treatment program for autism and disruptive behaviour in children.

HER APPROACH

Yu Teng respects that each client has their own individual story and unique perspective, and aims to provide a safe space where concerns can be discussed freely without judgment to allow for collaborative work. She practises with warmth and empathy, which helps clients build trust to share their experiences. Her clinical practice is founded in creating a comfortable environment that facilitates reflection and insight into life concerns, as well as guiding skill development for improved coping and fulfilment in life.

Yu Teng draws from a variety of evidence-based therapy modalities, which she tailors based on the needs and preferences of each client, primarily:
